The Fix: The pessimistic public (and what it means)
1. Americans may have put Republicans back in charge of the House and strengthened the party's hand in the Senate in the 2010 Elections but there is little excitement about the results or optimism for the future, according to a new Pew poll.
Less than half -- 48 percent -- described themselves as "happy" that Republicans took over the House while 34 percent said they were "unhappy" about the power change. Those numbers compare very unfavorably to how people felt when Democ...
Murkowski keeps lead in vote count (Politico)
Alaska Sen. Lisa Murkowski continued a strong rate of success Friday as election officials finished counting more than two-thirds of the write-in ballots in the state’s Senate race. Murkowski won more than 90 percent of those write-in ballots outright, plus another 7.6 percent that were challenged but were still counted. Those ballots are set aside for further review pending a Court decision due next week. Nonetheless, if Murkowski continues winning at least 90 percent of the write-in vo...
Murkowski Closes in on Alaska Senate Win
(FOXNews.com) - Some of the fight seems to be leaving Joe Miller’s ballot counting challenge in Alaska. The body language of the Miller observers is telling, FOXNews.com reported Friday. On the third day of counting write-in votes in the still-undecided Senate race between Republican nominee Joe Miller and Senator Lisa Murkowski, there were fewer challenges made to votes where Murkowski’s name was spelled correctly. Over the first two days of counting, Miller observers were challengi...
Alaska attacks forge on
(CNN) - Incumbent Alaska Sen. Lisa Murkowski, who launched a write-in campaign for re-election after losing the Republican Primary, believes the race in Alaska will be closer to resolution by the end of this weekend but added that her opponent, Tea Party-backed Republican Joe Miller, is working to "disenfranchise" voters. Miller Vote-count observers are challenging ballots that misspell the senator's name - or, in some cases, spell it correctly but aren't written clearly. "When you make ch...
Alaska Senate Race Still Unclear
By Vauhini Vara
As Election workers continued to pore over write-in Ballots in Alaskas Senate race, it remained unclear Friday whether Sen. Lisa Murkowski had enough uncontested votes to keep her seat without a court battle.
Ms. Murkowski ran a write-in campaign after losing to Joe Miller, a Tea-party favorite, in the Republican Primary in August. Write-in Ballots have totaled 40.2% of the vote, compared with 35.3% for Mr. Miller and 23.4% for Democrat Scott McAdams.
In the rainy state capital...

It is beginning to look a lot like Murkowski
The counting of the Alaska write in ballots is underway and thus far it looks like Lisa Murkowski’s lead will hold. I have to say Joe Miller’s attempts to cut down that vote are not looking very positive to me. Challenging slight misspellings or other picayune mistakes doesn’t really fit the whole Tea Party feel to me.
I think the big question now is just how much of team player will Lisa Murkowski be when she wins. If the story below is any indication, I think Re...

Sarah Palin fighting for the cause. Contributes to Joe Miller’s recount effort
While most people are already giving up on Joe Miller, calling it a “lost cause” there are people like Sarah Palin who is putting principle over Party. Dan Riehl and Jedidiah Bila wrote about this very concept today. Sarah Palin is putting her money where her mouth is, and I greatly appreciate her fighting for the cause, and for Miller. Those who are in the Conservative Movement must make the effort to bring about change. You win some, you lose some. If last Tuesday’s election ...

Alaska Elections officials have reviewed almost half of the write-in ballots with nearly 98% of them cast for Sen. Lisa Murkowski, the Achorage Daily News reports.
"The Murkowski campaign is acting confident of victory and is accusing Joe Miller of taking 'desperate' measures to try to win."
Nate Silver: "Miller's observers are surely aware of the mathematics behind the ballot-counting process, and it is possible that they are operating on what amounts to a quota to challenge at least as many...

In an amusing twist, Miller’s Lawsuit was originally assigned to one of his former supervisors, a Federal Judge with a pretty low opinion of Joe Miller:
The Federal Judge originally assigned to hear Joe Miller’s Lawsuit to cha...
