Fox News Poll: Only 39 Percent Would Vote to Re-Elect Obama in 2012
The 2012 Presidential race begins in earnest on Nov. 3 -- the day after the upcoming Midterm Elections -- and President Obama looks to be in trouble at the starting gate.
A Fox News poll released Friday shows that 54 percent of Voters say they would vote for someone else rather than re-electing Obama if the Presidential Election were held today. Thats up from 47 percent in a January poll and 31 percent in April 2009.
Thirty-nine percent would vote to re-elect the president now, down from 43...
Romney, Palin Lead Pack of 2012 Hopefuls
Mitt Romney (19%) and former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (16%) are the leaders in a new Gallup Poll of Republican voters' preferred 2012 presidential nominee.
Also getting at least 5% of Republicans' support: Mike Huckabee (12%), Newt Gingrich (9%) and Ron Paul (7%).
2012 hopefuls are not showing the Tea Party candidates the money
Senate GOP Candidates backed by the Tea Party movement have received
much less financial support than more established Candidates from their
Partys leading contenders for the White House.
The GOP figures jockeying for a 2012 bid have largely avoided contributing from their Political action Committees (PACs) to Christine ODonnell in Delaware, Rand Paul in Kentucky, Joe Miller in Alaska, Mike Lee in Utah, Ken Buck in Colorado and Sharron Angle in Nevada.
All six won GOP contests against...
Some Polls You Can Ignore
There is a trickle. Soon, there will be a flood. Polling for the 2012 GOP presidential contenders, that is. I’m going to ignore these for a very long time. They are meaningless at this stage. (Ask Rudy Giuliani.) They are a function of name identification. The field is not set, the Candidates have not yet engaged, and the inevitable unflatteringrevelations haven’t come. As we learned in 2008, it is not necessarily money and a strong organization that prevail. John McCain had...
Wanker of the Day: David Brooks
David Brooks is living in a fantasy land.
[Meg] Whitman is representative of an emerging Republican type what you might call the Austerity Caucus. Flamboyant performers like Sarah Palin get all the attention, but the governing soul of the party is to be found in statehouses where a loose confederation of ber-wonks have become Militant Budget balancers. Just as welfare reformers of the 1990s presaged compassionate Conservatism, so the Austerity brigades presage the national partys next...
David Brooks: Let's face it, Mitch Daniels is likely to be the GOP nominee
He hath seen the crease in the man’s pants and pronounced it good .

Thune: I've been one of TARP's "fiercest" critics
The primary political skeleton in
John Thune's
closet (as it pertains to a 2012 bid) is his vote for TARP in 2008.
Yesterday, he gave a preview of how he might defend it, and check out how he anticipates the question before it's even asked during a seemingly generic discussion of the strengths and weaknesses of the field (emphasis added).
Thune:
We have lots of people [Candidates] who might be able to catch fire out there, and all bring different strengths, and
we're all going to have votes...

We’re a little speechless here, for a few reasons.
First off, just check out these AWESOME Photoshops various readers did of President Palin as our 45th Commander-in-Chief at the poker table with her Republican predecessors.

2012 Poll: Familiar names on top
(CNN) - With the unofficial start of the 2012 Presidential Election less than five weeks away, a new Poll indicates that name recognition definitely matters when it comes to early Presidential politics. According to a Gallup Poll released Thursday, 19 percent of Republicans and Independents who lean Republican say they would be most likely to support former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney for the next GOP Presidential nomination. Three points back, and within the survey's sampling error, is...
2012 Watch: Romney announces Iowa endorsements
The former Massachusetts Governor's Political action Committee, Free and Strong America PAC, announced 38 Endorsements Friday of GOP Candidates running in state and federal Elections in Iowa. Romney's PAC is also pouring a total of $41,500 in contributions to the Candidates' campaigns. Romney's Endorsements include five-term Sen. Chuck Grassley and all of the Republicans running in the state's five Congressional Districts. Romney endorsed former Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad, the GOP gubernatorial...
Sanford Smitten
To a pair of ancient eyes, the fallen Governor of South Carolina has the hapless look of Edward VIII giving up the throne of England in 1936 for "the woman I love," a man undone by unexpected passion after a lifetime of being trained to follow all the rules of a straight-laced society.
The bizarre details of his downfall testify to the emotions that must have overcome Mark Sanford--an Eagle Scout on his way to a presidential nomination suddenly disappearing, on Father's Day weekend no less,...

The Conservatives' Spiritual Leader?
David Brooks writes today that “Mitch Daniels, the Governor of Indiana who I think is most likely to win the G.O.P. presidential nomination in 2012, is the spiritual leader” of the new wave of conservative Republican Candidates.
Policy leader, maybe, although I prefer Bobby Jindal. Or electoral leader, although the rising star of Chris Christie seems to be showing conservative Candidates the way to go. But spiritual leader ? This is the man who called for Pro-Life voters to put...
The GOP's Coming Class Divide
By Ronald Brownstein
A new Gallup Poll released Thursday underscored the possibility that the '12 Republican presidential race could divide the GOP along the same lines of Class and education that defined the '08 Democratic contest between Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton .
Overall, the survey, conducted Sept. 25 and 26 among Republicans and Republican-leaning Independents, found former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney (R) and former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) leading the field, with...
David C. Wilson: Obama Dominates Republicans in Polls
After last week's CNN poll highlighting President Obama's "all-time" lowest Job Approval the public was bombarded with stories and headlines about how poorly the president was performing.
Since then, many polls have shown the President's Approval Rating as anywhere from 3% to 6% points higher; all in less than a week. This shows why it's dangerous to position poll numbers as leading indicators of something. Indeed, they are snapshots of the past.
In an article on Pollster.com and...
Jeb Bush Rallies Conservatives at Summit
At a time when the Conservative Movement is looking bereft, humbled by Midterm-election defeats and hungering for a Presidential Candidate to rally around, Jeb Bush delivered yesterday in Washington a resounding Endorsement of Conservative principles, bringing his audience repeatedly to its feet.
In his lunchtime remarks to the Conservative Summit, Bush struck every Conservative chord, blaming Republicans' defeat in November on the party's abandonment of tenets including limited Government and...
David C. Wilson: What's the Real Story behind Obama's Poll Numbers? They're all Relative.
It's amazing how many spurious headlines come out about the President's Poll numbers. With all the negativity around the Job Approval Ratings one might assume that the President is among the worst politicians around these days.
Media figure heads and writers rarely put these numbers in any meaningful context other than a trend, which could be a month ago, a year ago, since he took office, or whatever works for the story. Most of the time the changes in the president's Job Approval numbers are...
Suddenly, Bill Clinton is Mr. Popular
A new poll came out this week and, as you might have already read , Bill Clinton is America's most popular politician.
That's how the findings of the latest NBC News/Wall Street Journal survey are being reported, anyway. In reality, the poll only found that Clinton is more popular than Barack Obama, Mike Huckabee, John Boehner, Mitch McConnell, Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich, Harry Reid, Sarah Palin and Nancy Pelosi -- the only other politicians who were included in the mix . Still,...
Ron Paul Ranks 5th in GOP Presidential Poll
According to Gallup , Ron gets 7%, behind Romney, Palin, Huckabee, and Gingrich, but ahead of Barbour, Santorum, Thune, Daniels, Pence, Christie, and Johnson.
