Chris Christie Signs First Responder Salary Cap
Many Newspapers in New Jersey have outlined the problems that pensions for First Responders like police and Firefighters receive based on Salary, and now Governor Chris Christie is capping that.

Revenue issues in the state are a large problem,
The Chris Christie Magic
I was just reminiscing about the halcyon era of a popular New Jersey Governor whose brash style and Reaganite agenda took the Garden State by storm, proving that true conservative principles can win the day even in deep Blue States. Come on the nostalgia tour with me, won't you? Here's Jennifer Rubin at Commentary:
The good news for Christie fans is that there are a few scraps suggesting that he hasn’t entirely closed the door on a 2012 run. (”Christie’s actions aren’t t...

But some issues were also put to 1, 276 registered NJ voters, including medical marijuana. Regardless of age, Ethnicity, gender or political affiliation the people of New Jersey support the rights of serio...
Poll: Does Obama think U.S. is exceptional?
Washington (CNN) - The vast majority of Americans see the United States as exceptional, according to a new National Poll. But a Gallup Poll released Wednesday also indicates that nearly four in ten say they believe President Barack Obama doesn't hold this same view. Eight out of ten people questioned in the survey say that based on the country's history and constitution, the U.S. has a unique character that makes it the greatest country in the world. The poll suggests there's no partisan divide ...
Texas Reps. predict nasty redistricting battle
Next year's messiest redistricting fight is likely to take place in Texas--the same state that saw an all-out brawl the last time around.
With the addition of four new House seats, the Lone Star state saw the biggest apportionment gain Tuesday when the Census Bureau officially released its new population figures.
It already has Democrats worrying that the Republican-led legislature will opt for an all-out power grab, setting up a Legal Battle similar to the one that began seven years ago a...

A man given seven years in Prison after being found with two guns he purchased legally in Colorado has had his sentence commuted, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie announced Monday. The case of Brian Aitken, 27, had become a cause célèbre ...
Mean Regression
This item is cross-posted from The New Republic.
The last few months of 2010 have been illuminating when it comes to the priorities of the Republican Party. By jumping at the Obama-McConnell tax deal, Republicans underscored the fact that protecting the marginal Tax Rates of high earners--not reducing the federal Deficit, and not even denying Obama legislative success--is their party's primary focus at the federal level. It says something that most Conservatives who opposed the tax deal did so...
Matthew Continetti: 'The Christie Cometh' on Ricochet.com
This is Chris Christie's moment. The New Jersey Governor is touring the country in support of Republican Candidates. He's taken on the Public Sector Unions. He's made some hard calls. He speaks in a blunt, confrontational style. Yet he remains popular. Most striking, he's a Republican from the Northeast who has national appeal. Last week Christie won a Tea Party presidential Straw Poll--in Virginia. In September, he came in second in another Straw Poll--held in Chicago. Christie denies any inter...
Christie Commutes Aitken's Gun Charge To Time Served
I don't know if this was mentioned here. Readers tipped me by email, but I didn't write a post. Maybe it was sidebarred.
Basically a guy in New Jersey got a very long sentence for Gun Possession under very dubious circumstances. His mom had alerted police about him, as she was worried he might be suicidal. They stopped him, and found guns in his trunk, which they called illegal -- but they weren't necessarily illegal, as it's legal to transport guns when moving from one home to another, as he s...
Nelson leads
Bill Nelson is unusually popular with Republicans and Independents and would start out in a good position for Reelection- unless Jeb Bush made a surprise decision to run against him.
Nelson's approval numbers don't appear on the surface to be that good, with 36% of voters approving of him and 33% disapproving with a pretty remarkable 31% holding no opinion even after nearly 16 years in statewide office. There are some unusual quirks in his numbers though that amount to him actually being strong...
NJ gov. signs law capping pay through arbitration
WAYNE, N.J. (AP) - Gov. Chris Christie signed a bill Tuesday that caps increases to police and Firefighter pay awarded through Arbitration, a measure he called the most important of the proposals in his so-called toolkit to help towns control costs. With Democratic Senate President Stephen Sweeney looking on, Christie hailed the passage of the bill as a testament to Bipartisan cooperation. "We've proven over the last year that Republicans and Democrats can get things done together," he said. "...
Chris Christie's Pepsi problem, cont'd
I thought this was going to take longer to happen, but it looks like Gov. Chris Christie's extremely aggressive style is wearing a bit on his state: The polls, from Quinnipiac and Rutgers-Eagleton, show Christie's Approval Rating in New Jersey slipping a bit, with significant majorities skeptical that he'd make a good president or vice-president. The polling shows that Christie is one of the most polarizing Governors in recent New Jersey history, with more voters holding both a very favorable vi...

Poll: Majority Of NJ Voters Don't Want Gov. Christie For President
New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, whose unpolished, tough-talking style has brought him much national attention and made him a viral sensation, is often floated as a potential Presidential Candidate in 2012. According to the poll, a large majority of New Jersey voters don't think their Governor would make a good president. Sixty-three percent of respondents said Christie would not be a good commande...
Chris Christie: The Scourge of Trenton
The administration is confident they have the best man to shape that discussion, and the ubiquity in the right-of-center blogosphere of YouTube videos showing Christie speaking eloquently, and extemporaneously, about his vision suggests they have it right. “I don’t think you can underestimate the political capital the Governor has accumulated in his first six months in office,” says Webber. “The first six months were crucial for him to establish himself as somebody who&rs...;

Allahpundit provides some background:
...he’s a cause celebre among Libertarians and Second Amendment fans — for good reason. In a nutshell: He bought three guns, entirely legally, when he was living in Colorado and brought them...
Today's Chris Christie Lesson in Government
Abuse of the justice system must be corrected:
New Jersey Republican Gov. Chris Christie commuted the sentence of Brian Aitken’s Monday, reducing his sentence from seven years in Prison to time already served. According to Christie’s order, he will be released as soon as it’s “administratively possible.”
As The Daily Caller previously reported, Aitken, 27, was arrested in New Jersey in 2009 after police found unloaded guns in the trunk of his car that had been purc...
Chris Christie: The Day of Reckoning Has Arrived
CBS: Then there's New Jersey. It has the highest taxes in the country, a $10 billion Deficit and a depressed economy when first-year Governor Chris Christie took office. But after looking at the books, he decided to walk away from a long-planned and much-needed project with New York and the Federal Government to build a rail tunnel into Manhattan. More Than a Third of Americans Doubt Obama Believes in U.S. 'Exceptionalism'
