Anti-Anti-Racism.
Political correctness and people who call things Racist are the greatest threats to free Speech, says Andrew Breitbart in this video from Reason (zoom ahead to 1:35):
This is a nearly pure expression of conservative anti-anti-racism, or the idea that accusations of Racism (against White People) are far more harmful than actual incidents of Bigotry against Minorities (with the collorary that Minorities are guilty of tremendous Racism against White People). Smearing Shirley Sherrod is perfectly ok...
IS DEMOCRATIC OPPOSITION TO OBAMA ALSO RACIAL? Oh, absolutely. Racist, racist, racist. But I love
IS DEMOCRATIC OPPOSITION TO OBAMA ALSO RACIAL? Oh, absolutely. Racist, racist, racist. But I love this comment: “Calling Republicans ‘racist’ for opposing Democrats in general, or Obama specifically, is nothing more than a political tactic that we use to turn black people against Republicans. There’s nothing to be gained by using this tactic against Democrats.”
Remember, comrades: We must distinguish between mere bourgeois truth, which is concerned with sterile fa...

Texas Republicans Fight About Immigration: Are Latinos a Menace, or Natural Allies Against Muslim Immigrant Invasion
Immigration hasn’t traditionally been a sharply partisan issue. The GOP presidential nominees in 2000, 2004, and 2008 all ran on pro-immigration platforms, as did their Democratic opponents. Conversely, many members of Congress from both parties were hostile to immigration. You saw more pro-immigration sentiment among Democrats, but strong pro-immigration and pro-immigrant political cultures existed inside the GOP, and especially in its Texas and Florida branches both of which had been p...
Is This Racist?
If I had a nickel for every time we’ve said that here I’d be rich! Here, yet, is another pathetic story of your government dollars going to waste and how the white man can’t get ahead. -AG

Nigerian-born Godson, a former Protestant pastor, took up his parliamentary seat this week as a member of Prime Minister Donald Tusk's ruling centre-right Civic Platform after replacing a colleague who became a city mayor in recent local Elections. "Being a black... has helped me in my ...
Catch of the Day
How about one for Jamelle Bouie, calling out Andrew Breitbart (OK, it's easy pickings, but still):
This is a nearly pure expression of conservative anti-anti-racism, or the idea that accusations of Racism (against White People) are far more harmful than actual incidents of Bigotry against Minorities (with the collorary that Minorities are guilty of tremendous Racism against White People). Smearing Shirley Sherrod is perfectly okay, but calling out Breitbart's race-baiting is beyond the pale, an...
Fa-Ra-Ra-Ra-Ra-Ra-Ra-Ra-Ra, Ctd
A reader writes:
I thought I should share with you a screen capture of your posts. The first post is about dealing with "Racist relatives over the Holidays" followed by "Fa Ra Ra Ra." Now I understand the latter post references the "classic" movie moment in The Christmas Story, but seeing the two posts back to back struck me.
As a biracial Asian-American male that "classic" moment was my first realization of the long heard phrase "laughing AT you not WITH you."
Growing up in suburban Virginia,...
How Do You Deal With Racist Relatives Over The Holidays?
A Feministe reader sparks a helpful discussion in the comments section. Rita's advice:
I deal with this as well and I disagree with the “just don’t go” advice. I don’t get to see my family that often and they are VERY important to me, bigoted views or no. The older generation in particular just never learned any better (which I know is not an excuse for hatred, but I’m still not going to hate them back.) I want to see my family and when they are not being Racist/sexist/ge

Why the answer is 'Generosity Unbound'
Partfour of a five-part series American Philanthropy is under threat. The current declines in municipal Real Estate alone might suggest to lawmakers to impose new taxes on endowments as a way of balancing depleted public budgets. But what a shortsighted idea! Private foundations are . . . private entities. And foundation endowments are private property held for the public benefit according to the Donor's intent. Tax Deductions for Charitable Donations were wisely established to provide an incen...
Inside the Fishbowl, does diversity of D.C. press corps pale?
by Richard Prince Published Dec. 17, 2010 9:57 am Updated Dec. 17, 2010 9:58 am Reading the Fishbowl blogs about the media — there are three of them, for New York, Washington and Los Angeles, all part of mediabistro.com — one sometimes gets the impression that media People of Color exist merely as window dressing. They rarely do anything collectively on their own. Earlier this month, the Washington City Paper ran a cover story on Betsy Rothstein, editor of the D.C. operation. ...
Meeks claims Emanuel kept black leaders out of the White House - Attempts backtrack on affirmative action blowup
* This week’s WVON mayoral debate appearance by Sen. James Meeks is something of a racially charged goldmine.
For instance, Meeks claimed during the debate that mayoral opponent Rahm Emanuel kept African-American leaders “out of the White House,” and said of Emanuel, “He’s never done anything for African-Americans.”
There’s more, so watch…
I asked the Meeks campaign twice yesterday to explain the White House allegation, but did not hear back.
