Gallup Poll: Gallup’s headline is, “46% Favor, 40% Oppose Repealing Healthcare Law,” but I think they’re overlooking the bigger news.

First, the idea that 14 percent of Americans have no opinion whether or not ObamaCare goes into effect is pretty surprising and interesting.

Note that Obama and the Democrats need this to be a driving issue for voters in 2012; put another way, only 40 percent of adults (not Registered Voters, not Likely Voters) say they want to keep ObamaCare as it is...
Gallup: Plurality, Some Democrats, Support ObamaCare Repeal
As House Republicans take the first step today towards voting on a bill that would Repeal the Abortion-funding ObamaCare bill pro-life groups oppose, a new Gallup Poll finds a plurality of Americans support that effort. Approximately 46 percent of U.S. voters support the Repeal effort, some 40 percent oppose it, and 14 percent say they do not have an opinion yet on repealing the government takeover of the Health Care industry. “Americans’ broadly divided opinions on repealing the hea...

The media, always rushing to protect statist schemes, have joined Democrats in warning opponents to stay away from the Repeal effort. Expect both politicians and pundits to act as if congressional Republicans are nigh on committing Treason.
"This week's Health Care debate," writes the Washington Post's E.J. Dionne in his Sunday column, "will put (Speaker John) Boehner and the Republicans on the defensive."

ObamaCares Reality Deficit
ObamaCare’s Reality DeficitSaturday, January 8th, 2011
Lots of good quotes in this Wall Street Journal Review & Outlook column, although none better than this sub-headline some pithy editor slapped in:
If you believe that a new entitlement saves money, you’ll believe anything.
Like Dilbert’s pointy-haired boss once said, “When we saw you would willingly spend your entire days in cubicles smaller than a Prison cell, we realized anything was possible.”

Dems pick targets in health fight (Politico)
With the House set to vote Wednesday on repealing health reform, Democrats plan hometown attacks on many of the 62 House Republicans representing districts President Barack Obama carried on 2008. The Democratic National Committee is monitoring tweets and interviews by the targeted Republicans, and has begun to push for news coverage of the statements back home. Democrats plan press events hosted by state parties, including appearances by “real people” who would lose care if the law ...
Gallup: Americans Want Repeal
Get alerts when there is a new article that might interest you. The most recent Gallup Poll shows that Americans favor Repeal by a margin of 6 percentage points (46 to 40 percent) - and that's even without screening for likely, or even registered, voters. To put the importance of not screening for Likely Voters into perspective, in its final generic Congressional Ballot poll of Registered Voters before last November's election, Gallup showed Republicans and Democrats to be in a dead-heat: ...
The Obamacare deficit scam

Opinion Journal:
Of all the claims deployed in favor of ObamaCare, and there are many, the most preposterous is that a new open-ended entitlement will somehow reduce the Budget Deficit. Insure 32 million more people, and save money too! The even more remarkable spectacle is that Washington seems to be taking this claim seriously in advance of the House's Repeal vote next week. Some things in politics you just can't make up.

Health Care Vote Sets Stage for Next Week
The new Republican-controlled House of Representatives moved one step closer to fulfilling a campaign pledge to Repeal President Obama's Health Care law.
Friday's 236-181 vote to open the debate was mostly along party lines, and it sets the stage for a simple up-or-down vote next week.
Republicans want to Repeal what they call "the job-killing" law as if it were never enacted, arguing that it will add to the National Debt.
Democrats, on the other hand, say a Repeal would deny important provis...
Debate Over Health Law Repeal Sparks Deja Vu
It may be a new year, but it's the same Health Care debate on the House floor. Acting on one of its top priorities, the new Republican majority on Friday started the process to Repeal last year's sweeping health overhaul.
As the House settled in to debate the rule that would set the stage for a Repeal vote Wednesday, there were a lot of new faces. But the arguments they made had a familiar ring to them.
"Everybody knows that the Health Care system's broken and that reform is needed," said Republ...
Cantor: GOP healthcare reform repeal key to getting economy back on track
House Majority Leader Rep. Eric Cantor (R-Va.) on Saturday touted Republican efforts to Repeal Healthcare Reform as a key component in their effort to get The Economy back on track.
In the weekly GOP address, Cantor argued that the healthcare law was actually discouraging employers from hiring new employees, and could even be driving further Unemployment as the nation tries to dig out from the economic Recession.
“At a time when we need to do everything in our power to encourage Job Creation...

In the shadow of an upcoming vote to Repeal Healthcare Reform next week, Americans are split on whether Congress should Repeal the Legislation — 46 percent in favor to 40 percent against, with 14 percent Undecided, a Gallup Poll released today found.
According to Gallup, the poll, conducted on Tuesday and Wednesday, is consistent with past polls that found the Healthcare Reform law passed last year is still failing to gain traction among Americans.

Gallup Poll: Percentage of Americans Who Identify As Dems Hits 22-Year Low
A new Gallup Poll released today has some potentially disturbing news for Democrats. In the findings, only 31% of Americans identify as Democrats which ties for the Lowest Level in 22 years. However, this doesn’t mean that Republican identification soared past them. While the Republicans did get a slight bump, it was Independents that were really on the rise.
The findings, which were put together from 21 separate Gallup and USA Today/Gallup polls, have the Republicans at 29%, two percentag...
Gallup Poll May Exaggerate Support For Full Repeal Of Health Care Law
As the new Republican majority in the House begins debate on a proposal to scuttle President Obama's landmark health reform act, Gallup released a new poll showing net support (46% to 40%) for Repeal. Although Gallup characterized the result as falling short of a strong Endorsement of the repeal proposal, their results imply more support for a complete repeal than indicated by other recent polls.
Gallup's question was framed to replicate the decision facing members of Congress:

Dems Drop to New Low in Gallup Poll
The carriage that brought Democrats to the White House and major Congressional gains in the 2008 election may have turned to a pumpkin in 2010 as a new Gallup Poll shows only 31 percent of Americans identified themselves as Democrats last year. That's down from 35 percent in 2008 and is the lowest percentage of self-identified Democrats since the polling group started measuring party identification 22 years ago. But not all those backing away from Democrats are running over to the GOP. The numbe...
Gallup has some good news and some really bad news for President Obama
Finally, some good news to please President Obama in a new Gallup Poll.
The survey finds that more Americans still identify themselves as Democrats (31%) than call themselves Republicans.
Now, the bad news:
That 31% ties the lowest annual average of Democrats since 1988, when fellow Harvard Law alum Michael Dukakis got thumped by the first Bush to become president.
In fact, in the 717 days since Beyonce sang "Moon River" or something to this dancing Democrat, the per...
Obama says economy moving in right direction
The Private Sector added 103,000 new jobs in December and the Unemployment rate fell from 9.8 percent to 9.4 percent. "Now, we know that these numbers can bounce around from month to month. But the trend is clear," said the president, whose 2012 re-election prospects may well hinge on the condition of The Economy. "We saw 12 straight months of Private Sector job growththe first time that's been true since 2006," he said. The economy added 1.3 million jobs last year. And each quarter was ...
GOP House cut spending by $540 billion, taxes by $770 billion
The Congressional Budget Office was forced to admit that it deliberately misled the public on repealing ObamaCare.
The agency, run by Democrat Douglas Elmendorf — a proponent of universal health coverage, contended that the Republican plan to Repeal Obamacare would add $230 billion to the Deficit.
That’s nonsense.
Eliminating a Federal Program does not increase spending.
No logical person would buy that.
Which is why Liberal Bloggers went ape over this deception.

Mark Blumenthal:
Thus, we have a consistent pattern: Gallup's survey alone shows a modest but statistically significant improvement in Obama's Approval Rating, and all four pollsters show nominal gains in the president's favor. As such, the change is likely real. The more important questions are whether this modest difference is meaningful and whether it is likely to persist.
Bob Herbert:
The politicians and the media behave as if the poor don’t exis...
Weiner, Crowley lead fight to keep Obamacare
WASHINGTON - New York Democrats are positioning themselves as the key defenders of Health Care reform in the GOP's House effort to Repeal the law next week.
Like other Democrats, they've already begun touting the many benefits Republicans want to take back, from Tax Cuts for small businesses to prescription help for seniors.
But being New Yorkers, they've kicked it up a notch - even the normally mild-mannered Bronx Rep. Eliot Engel.
"This Repeal would act as a virtual death sentence for too ma...

Yeah, I already know the answer: "When the Jets beat the Colts tonight"
When the hell are the Democrats going to start hammering in "Deficit-Exploding Tax Cuts" or "Budget-Busting Tax Cuts" the way the Republicans are hammering "Job-Killing Health Care Bill" (and everything else, despite the fact that however meager it is, and however low-paid, there is actually some job growth going on in the Private Sector, which is more than could be said about the Bush Administration, which left us this mess)? U.S. House Republicans, who swept into power promising to rein in the...

Republicans attack healthcare agenda
WASHINGTON, Jan. 8 (UPI) -- The U.S. economy can't get back on track with existing Democratic healthcare policies, House Majority Leader Rep. Eric Cantor, R-Va., said Saturday. In the party's weekly radio and Internet address, Cantor derided the 10-month-old healthcare package as flawed and claimed it was hindering Economic Recovery, The Hill reported. "At a time when we need to do everything in our power to encourage Job Creation, the healthcare law hangs around the necks of businesses small an...
God Save the Debate

Next week the House Republicans are going to vote to Repeal the Health Care reform law. It’s a symbolic gesture they got the right to make when they won the majority, but it would be nice if they could leave God out of it.
I am thinking about you, Representative Steve King of Iowa. On Friday, King gave a 58-minute-and-20-second Speech on the floor of the House in which he made it abundantly clear that God did not want more federal Regulation of health Insurance Companies....
