Suspended Grant Has Strange Bedfellows
A state-administered grant to provide Abstinence education services to the S.C. Department of Social Services (DSS) has been awarded to a group that features an Internet Porn writer on its Advisory Board. That’s some pretty delicious irony, isn’t it? The six-month grant - totaling $546,942 - was awarded last month to S.C. Parents Involved in Education (SC PIE), a group that features former S.C. Board of Education Chairwoman Kristin Maguire as one of its Advisory Board mem...
Bill would require Neb. schools to provide sex ed
The soaring rate of sexually transmitted diseases in Douglas County has led one Omaha lawmaker to introduce a measure that would require Nebraska schools to offer Sex Education classes. State Sen. Brenda Council, of Omaha, introduced the bill (LB192) on Friday. She says Douglas County, which includes Omaha, has among the highest rates of sexually transmitted diseases in the country, and that is "unacceptable." The bill would require all School Districts to provide age-appropriate and medically a...
Shocking: 41% Of Pregnancies In New York End In Abortion
Appalling, though not exactly a new development. This figure is actually down from 46% in 1998. New and eye-opening statistics about the rate of Abortions in New York City have been released by the Health Department. It raises questions about the effectiveness of current Birth Control education. 41% of all New York City pregnancies end in abortion. There may be some reason to believe that these numbers are a little inflated. Abortion clinics tend to be centered in major urban areas, and these st...
How a Christian charity evolved into state-funded 'equality' campaigners
What would YWCA's founders think of today's equality dogma? (Photo: The Women's Library)
The YWCA, formerly the Young Women’s Christian Association, has dropped its title after 156 years because “it no longer stands for who we are”.
Instead the organisation will be known as “Platform 51”, a rather enigmatic-sounding name that could be a Wesley Snipes film, a band or the route to Hogwarts.
In a sense the name doesn’t matter; what’s significant is how t
Stanek weekend question: Where are obvious places religious leaders can help lower NYCs soaring abortion rates?
Pro-choice and pro-life groups alike are shuddering at the news that 4 out of every 10 pregnancies in NYC ends in Abortion. Data released Friday by the city’s Health Dept. reveals that in 2009, there were 87,273 abortions and 126,774 live births. The abortion rate broke down along demographic and geographic lines: 60% for black women, 41% for Hispanics, 22% for Asians and 20% for white women…. Overall, the Big Apple’s abortion rate is more than twice the national average of 19%...
The new Babylon: 41% Of NYC Pregnancies End In Abortion
35 They built high places for Baal in the Valley of Ben Hinnom to sacrifice their sons and daughters to Molek, though I never commanded—nor did it enter my mind—that they should do such a detestable thing and so make Judah sin. - Jeremiah 32 (NIV)
Moleck was an Old Testament Ammonite god to which many, including Israelites, sacrificed their first born Children in return for a promise of prosperity. Today, many have been convinced in this...

Do 41% of all New York City pregnancies end in abortions?
Drudge has this headlined, and Twitter is buzzing over the appalling statistic reported by ABC and CBS stations in New York City over the Abortion rate in 2009, as determined by the Big Apple’s Health Department. For the year, New York City reported 214,454 Pregnancy outcomes, of which 126.774 were live births and just 407 were spontaneous terminations — miscarriages. However, 87,273 Pregnancy outcomes were abortions (induced terminations), which constituted 41% of all pregnanc...
Shockingly, Women Need Contraceptive Services.
The Guttmacher Institute has updated its report on the need for contraceptive services at both the national and state levels in 2008. While the number of women of childbearing age has remained steady, the number of women seeking contraceptive services has risen 6 percent since 2000. That's mirrored in the rise in the number of women who need publicly-funded reproductive services. A lot of it is driven by a rise in the need among women of color. Publicly-funded clinics helped avoid more than 400,...
Babies in Trash Cans

Joining us tonight in the WTF File is -again- Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) who seems to have some sort of fanatical fetish for the subject of unwanted pregnancies and Abortion. The man just can't stop himself from blurting out the most ridiculous things that come to mind in his efforts to fearmonger over abortion, unwanted pregnancies, and non-traditional families.
Here was Steve King just this past week on the subject of abortion:
I often go into a High School auditorium or mee...
NYC's 41% Abortion Rate Riles Religious Leaders
Like this Story? Share it: (CBS/AP) In a noticeable departure from strict Catholic dogma decrying Abortion no matter what, New York's Archbishop Timothy Dolan called together Religious Leaders Thursday and asked everyone to work with each other to make Abortion "rare." Dolan's called for the gathering in light of a New York City Department of Health report (PDF) stating that induced terminations ended about 41 percent of the 214,454 reported pregnancies in the city last year. Nationally, the n...

Cuomo Keeps Predecessors Executive Orders (Updated)
Three are connected to his State of the State Speech announcements, creating the mandate relief and Medicaid redesign teams and the so-called SAGE commission (Spending and Government Efficiency). Another required ethics training for his top Staffers and commissioners. (It’s unclear to me what the first Executive Order was because it’s not listed on Cuomo’s revamped gubernatorial Website. UPDATE: That’s right, No. 1 was to remove the concerete barries from outside the Cap...
'Grinding' Rocks Small Vermont Town, Highlights Generation Gap
A High School in Vermont has been forced to cancel its annual winter ball after Students refused to purchase tickets in order to rebel against a ban on grinding. The dance form is considered de rigeur at Vermont High School dances, according to South Burlington High School principal Patrick Burke. However, Burke explained: "I could not accept even the tamest form of this dance as appropriate behavior at a school event, and I believe the enforcement of 'OK' grinding versus 'obscene' grinding wa...
Rise in abortions in China, young women targeted
This photo taken Monday, Dec. 13, 2010 shows an image of a three-month-old fetus during a sonogram scan for "Nancy" Yin at a clinic run by Marie Stopes International in Xi'an in central China's Shaanxi province. While comprehensive data are hard to come by, official figures show Abortions are increasing, and Chinese Media and experts say many if not most of the abortion-seekers are young, single women. The leaf-strewn median on Eternal Peace Road hides a grim secret: Numerous tiny fetuses lie i...
Giffords staffer remembered
Gabe Zimmerman, the congressional Staffer who was killed in the Mass Shooting in Arizona on Saturday, was known as a friendly and dedicated aide who had been with Rep. Gabrielle Giffords since the earliest point in her congressional career.
His job was director of community outreach — the position which led him to organize the “Congress on your Corner” event that quickly turned from a run of the mill local town hall to a national tragedy in which six people were killed &mdash...;

College students lack scientific literacy, study finds
After reading this I asked myself: Is it any wonder College Students get sucked in to emotionally based eco-causes/NGO’s that spout claims based on questionable science? This troubling Press Release comes from Michigan State University. A link to the full paper follows below, which is well worth reading because it gives insight into the questions and answers given. It is quite an eye-opener. - Anthony East Lansing, Mich. — Most College Students in the United States do not...
The Jobless Recovery Hits a New Victim: College Grads
For most of the last three years, one group has survived the economic downturn with minimal damage: College Graduates.
Workers with an undergraduate degree saw Unemployment rising only slowly, even as the rest of The Economy tanked, with millions of jobs lost in industries like construction and Manufacturing. College grads were as close as you could get to Recession-proof.
Not anymore.
Figures from the Bureau of Labor Statistics show that Unemployment among people under 25 with bachelor's d...
Arizona Bans Latino Studies Program, Fueling New Immigration Fight
A new Immigration debate is burning in Arizona this week after the state's Attorney General declared a Tucson School District's Mexican-American program illegal -- while similar class programs for blacks, Asians and American Indians were left standing. "It's propagandizing and brainwashing that's going on there," Tom Horne, the new Attorney General said earlier this week referring to the Latino program. He ruled it violated a new state law that went into effect on Jan. 1, the New York Times repo...

'True Grit' vs. 'The Social Network'
Someday Mark Zuckerberg's perfectly parabolic jaw line will crumble and sag until it resembles the craggy, blurred topography of Rooster Cogburn's. It's as inevitable as the rise of Facebook — a continuum, not a culture clash. The films "The Social Network" and "True Grit" are shaping up as the generational flashpoint of the coming Oscar race. If the Facebook biopic wins, critics will wring their hands and talk about the soullessness of the new machine, and if "True Grit" redux carries the...
