Talk Show: Last night, after over 25 years on television and nearly five decades in broadcasting, Larry King abdicated the CNN throne at the age of 77. His star-studded show went out appropriately, with all three major news network anchors (Diane Sawyer, Brian Williams, and Katie Couric, who even read a fairly nifty “poem”) joining Ryan Seacrest, Bill Maher, and Arnold Schwarzenegger to wrap up cable TV’s longest-running and most definitive interview show. (Reruns will air through t...

Larry King to CNN-Watching World: 'So Long'
“I was famous in Miami when I was 26,” Larry King recently informed New York's Steve Fishman. It's just the type of awesome achievement you've got to give the seventy-seven year-old silver fox kudos for: Seven wives (one he married twice), personal friendships with politicians, and twenty-five years of throwing relative softballs, yet getting hard news and expository answers back. Alas, tonight was Larry King's last on CNN, and he left the anchor's chair suspender-clad as he came, ...

Tonight's the night for Larry King as 25-year reign comes to an end
He is from another era of current affairs television and tonight that era will end. When the lights dim on his desk this evening, Larry King, the Primetime interview host for CNN for the last 25 years, will hang up his Trademark braces and cede his throne to the British talent show judge and former editor Piers Morgan. With Mr King, 76, will vanish an interviewing style that to some had become outdated long before now. You don't need a Jeremy Paxman when your guest is Jon Bon Jovi but arguably y...

Larry King: Not Goodbye, Just So Long
End of an era....
Thank You, Larry King
Larry King did his final daily CNN show Thursday night, with much deserved fanfare. When I was a late-night disc jockey in New York working for a Radio Station that was owned by Mutual, his then-radio network, I listened to his Radio Show in cue between playing country songs. He set the standard for interviewing, knowing how to ask short, pithy questions, listen to the answers, and intuitively know what to ask next. I later got to meet and interview Larry, who was extremely kind to me and of...
