New Jersey Legislature, Governor Christie Fight Over Funds to Abortion Centers
Trenton,
NJ (LifeNews.com) -- When Governor Chris Christie ran for office
last year, he campaigned on a Pro-Life platform and he is making good
on his promise to advocate life. At present, he is skirmishing with
Democrats in the state legislature over the millions in Taxpayer funds
the state sends Abortion centers for family planning.
Although
the money doesn't directly fund Abortions, Christie thinks there's
little reason to send the Abortion centers $7.5 million when the state...
US, Afghans repel attack against major base
Kabul, Afghanistan -- U.S. and Afghan Troops repelled an Attack Wednesday on one of the biggest NATO bases in eastern Afghanistan by Militants who used a Suicide Car Bomb, rocket-propelled grenades and automatic weapons in a failed attempt to breach the defenses.
It was the third ground assault against a major coalition base in Afghanistan in the past five weeks - a sign that the Insurgents have not been cowed by U.S. efforts to ramp up the war.
Eight Militants were killed in the Attack,...

Palin: Obama policy is "Enemy-Centric"
If I bothered with categories for my posts, this would be filed under LIBERAL VEIN BUSTERS.

Not that the reporters would have covered it.
Look how they quoted none of what she had to say at Stanislaus on Friday.
So today, she posted her Speech at Norfolk (I wish she would post the Stanislaus Speech.)

Chris Christie Calls for Republican Rebranding
New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie on Tuesday in an interview with Politico outlined a path for the GOP to rebrand as the party keeping "our eye on the cash register,” while also praising some Democrats for taking the right approach to tackling major issues like education.
Christie, a darling of Conservatives after staring down Democrats over the Budget and Tax Cuts, demonstrated his own distinct brand of Conservatism over a breakfast interview. Without naming names, the seven-year...
Christie: my trainer wants to brag I'm a client, but 'not yet'
Here's my write-up of one of the most interesting moments in our Chris Christie interview - his discussion about his Weight Loss, how he accomplished it and why he even talked about his lost 35 pounds at all yesterday: He's lost 35 pounds, about half way toward his goal. He has a Personal Trainer and a nutritionist, and works out at least three times a week. And yes, eggs scrambled with scallions and creem cheese were a departure from his normal routine. New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, who had...
Chris Christie Refuses To Endorse Hard-Line Approach On Immigration
New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has been the darling of the conservative wing of the GOP for his no-nonsense approach to fiscal policy, but they’re not likely to be happy with his stand on Immigration: On the hot-button topic of Immigration Reform, he said he has long declined to "demagogue" the issue as a former U.S. Attorney, because "I come from Law Enforcement and it's not an easy issue." But he did intimate that he thinks stringent state-by-state Laws " such as in...
Governor Christie: They Said It Couldn’t Be Done
Hi, this is Governor Chris Christie. Back on March 16th I presented a Budget to the State Legislature that closed an $11 Billion Budget gap without raising any taxes on the people of the State of New Jersey. At the time, they said it couldn’t be done - that you couldn’t bring Republicans and Democrats together to close the largest Budget gap of any state in America and do it without raising taxes. Well, today I am glad to report to you that I have signed the Budget; the Budget...

The legislature of NJ reached a bi-partisan agreement on Christie's Budget today and he went on CNBC's Squawk Box to discuss it. SOUTH RIVER, N.J.
— New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie signed his first state Budget into law on Tuesday, saying the document reflects tough choices in a difficult economy, but he defended its underpinnings as fiscally sound.
The $29.4 Billion Budget for the Fiscal Year beginning July 1 cuts aid to public schools, suspends Property Tax rebates, and jettisons public Watchdog agencies. Its passage prevented a government shutdown Thursday.
The Republican Governor, who took office in January,...

Britain warns against 'premature' Afghanistan withdrawal
Washington — Britain warned Wednesday against a "premature" withdrawal of U.S. and NATO Troops from Afghanistan as the U.S.-led international force suffered its highest monthly death toll of the nearly nine-year-old war.
The 93,000-strong U.S. contingent is the largest in the International Security Assistance Force, followed by Britain's approximately 10,000 Soldiers.
June saw the highest death toll for coalition forces since the 2001 U.S.-led intervention began, with at...
Petraeus wins US Senate nod on Afghan war
General David Petraeus cruised Wednesday to US Senate confirmation as commander of the faltering Afghan campaign, amid deep political divisions over the War and fresh insurgent violence.
The Senate vote came amid a new bout of national soul-searching over the War and after Taliban Insurgents set off a Car Bomb and fired rockets at a NATO base in eastern Jalalabad.
The 99-0 vote was a rare display of unity between President Barack Obama's Democratic allies and Republican foes as both sides hoped...

Chris Christie on immigration: We need a path to citizenship
Some righties, Ace among them, are shrugging this off, which I kind of understand. For one thing, conservative rock star though he be, Christie’s still a Republican leading a deep-blue state. We may want to believe he’s Reagan reincarnated but there’s probably a little of Rudy Giuliani in that political DNA. For another thing, he’s wisely chosen not to be too specific about this issue so the quotes end up being ambiguous. What kind of path to Citizenship,...
Chris Christie vs. the demagogues
I'm a big fan of New Jersey Governor, Chris Christie, who I think is doing an incredibly good and thankless job at working to balance the state's Budget while also cleaning up the public schools in the face of bitter Union opposition. Politico has an interesting interview with the Governor, in which Christie warns the GOP against demagoguery and insists that Republicans and Democrats can work together on a number of issues:

Speaker Pelosi, Put Afghan Drawdown On Record w/McGovern-Obey
With the House poised to consider the Pentagon’s request for $33 Billion for more death in Afghanistan, Speaker Nancy Pelosi has told the Huffington Post she expects a "serious drawdown" of U.S. Troops from Afghanistan in the summer of 2011. The House Rules Committee has now approved an amendment for consideration on the war supplemental that will allow Speaker Pelosi to "put her money where her mouth is."
Some folks in Washington who want the war and occupation in...

50-100 Al Queda In Afghanistan: Panetta
“I think at most, we’re looking at maybe 50 to 100, maybe less,” Panetta said on the Sunday morning political Talk Show This Week . “There’s no question that the main location of Al Qaeda is in tribal areas of Pakistan .” Panetta said there is “no question” that the Taliban “is engaged in greater violence right now” than when Obama took office. “In some ways, they are stronger, but in some ways, they are weaker as...
