Assassination : Yes, I have paid attention to the attempted Assassination of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ), the Murder of six other people, and the attempted political Assassination by the Leftist media of Former Governor Sarah Palin (R-AK) in these past few days.

Yes, I'm up to my ears in taking care of my great-aunt--an invalid since her accident on September 24th of last year. Yes, I am grateful to the awesome King Shamus for keeping my blog alive from that time until now.

The Arizona Tragedy and the American Reaction
The story dominating American conversation this week is the tragedy in Tucson, Arizona. In shock, after a mentally troubled assassin named Jared Lee Loughner shoots a round from his 9mm Glock through the brain of beloved Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and then turns his weapon on the crowd and kills 6 bystanders while wounding 13 others — America mourns. Giffords is alive today and fighting for her life, the extent of the damage caused by her wound still unknown. There are positive signs...
Arab News op-ed writer calls for reform of Pakistani blasphemy laws
While the news has been dominated by the Assassination attempt on Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ), there was a successful Assassination that you may not have heard about. Malik Mumtaz Qadri, a guard for Salman Taseer, murdered the Pakistani provincial Governor he was supposed to be protecting. Taseer had recently announced his support for pardoning Asia Noreen, a Punjab Christian who defended her faith after offering water to thirsty Muslims--who turned down her generosity because she was" uncle...
Tucson service shows what liberals really mean by 'separation of church and state'
Despite the wholly inappropriate and distracting pep rally sound track, there were some moving moments in last night's memorial service at the University of Arizona for the Victims of Saturday's Safeway massacre in Tucson. But one thing that ought not be allowed to pass by without comment was how the event illustrated as no other public commemoration in recent memory what is really meant when the doctrine of "Separation of Church and State" is invoked by proponents of liberal multiculturalist co...
Rush: Obama Speech Was Pep Rally
Mediaite reports:
Rush Limbaugh took to the airwaves and wasn’t so eager to echo the overwhelming praise of President Obama’s memorial Speech last night. Not only was he shocked by the “pep rally” tone of the crowd (something that also troubled CBS’ Mark Knoller during today’s Press Conference with Robert Gibbs), but he also had some complaints about what was said, the timing of the ceremony and the media reaction to it.
Limbaugh first doubted the wisdom of having Depar

Mutually Unassured Destruction
If we all carried guns, the argument goes, there would be less gun violence. It is the mutually assured destruction argument. Now we have a good example of how open-carry law has worked. In Arizona it is legal and common to carry sidearms openly so that in any gathering of normal size plenty of people are likely to be carrying sidearms for protection. Yet when the Tucson slaughter commenced, not one self-defensive weapon was drawn or used. Why has this tragic occurrence disproved once again the ...
The Times Loses It
Among the worldly, however, there is a temptation to make nonsense. Thus it was that on Sunday, January 9, the New York Times provided a further grief, much less important than the death and mutilation of innocents but shameful nonetheless. The Times ran, as its second lead, above the fold on the front page, a story about the Tucson shootings headlined “Bloodshed Puts New Focus on Vitriol in Politics.” The article, by Carl Hulse and Kate Zernike, contains almost nothing newsworthy. N...
Martin Luther King Jr. Day and environmental justice
Attorney General Eric Holder spoke today about environmental justice at an EPA program commemorating the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Here are some quotes from text the Department of Justice put out:
"Nearly half a century ago, it had become clear to Dr. King and his supporters that integrating our schools and public spaces, securing Voting Rights, and advancing the Civil Rights Act did not solve a series of other problems. People of Color still suffered, unequally, from...
POLITICAL VIOLENCE? STOP VIOLENT POLITICS (Ted Rall)
NEW YORK--The shooting of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and 11 other people is tragic. But it is not shocking. It isn't even surprising.
What is surprising--weird, even--is the response of the corporate-owned political and media establishment. They're coming out against violent Rhetoric. Not real violence. They want to stop talk about violence.
Liberals accuse right-wingers of creating an atmosphere of hatred that fuels incidents like the Arizona shootings.
"We need to put the gun meta...
A Climate of Slander
Jan 24, 2011, Vol. 16, No. 18 • By THE SCRAPBOOK Get alerts when there is a new article that might interest you. Liberal pundits suffered a psychotic break last week, metaphorically speaking, of course. When a gunman opened fire on Representative -Gabrielle Giffords and a crowd that had gathered to hear her speak in Tucson, they were certain that Conservatives must, somehow, be to blame. So the liberal intelligentsia rushed to erect a gallows in the public square (metaphorically speaking, a...

DUPNIKS DUPLICITOUS DIATRIBE
In the immediate aftermath of Saturday’s tragic shooting at the Tucson shopping center, the one person that citizens would expect to focus on a quick response to the violence, conduct a thorough investigation, and focus on finding the culprit is none other than Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik. Certainly, this occurred within his jurisdiction, therefore his office is the primary Law Enforcement agency to deal with this crisis. Jared Loughner’s actions, the takin...
McCain Thanks Obama, Defends Palin, In Washington Post
Sen. John McCain arrives to attend the Tucson memorial event, on January 12, 2011. Sen. John McCain may be one of the few people this week to embrace both President Obama and Sarah Palin. He certainly is a unique position, having against Obama and with Palin in 2008. In a Washington Post op-ed piece Friday, McCain praised the president's Tucson Speech for its unifying message. "I commend and thank him for it," he said. In the same piece, McCain, the 2008 Republican presidential nominee, seemed t...
The Tucson Massacres The Hall Of Shame: Liberals Who Used Tragedy To Smear The Right
G.I. Wood Shop Inc. Mrs. Peel Oh…My Valve! V The K’s Caption This! An error has occurred; the feed is probably down. Try again later. The massacre in Tucson was a horrendous tragedy. Everyone in the country, of every ideological stripe, should have been allowed to mourn the Victims’ deaths and injuries without the imposition of having to defend people who had nothing at all to do with it. But where normal people saw tragedy, the Far Left saw opportunity. They jumped at th...
Trolling For Assassins
Everyone should read Trolling for Assassins, about "Becking," or "stochastic Terrorism":
Think of Cigarette smoking. We don’t know who will get Cancer from the smoke - even though we can be confident that the death rate goes up the more people smoke. Or think of an advertiser who has no idea which viewers will buy their product -- yet spends millions confident that the ad campaign will pay for itself. As Gabby Giffords said so well, words and images have consequences. She had no way of know...

Arizona Sen. John McCain, the 2008 Republican presidential nominee and regular critic of President Obama, today called Mr. Obama's Speech at a memorial for the Victims of the Tucson tragedy "terrific" and implicitly defended former Running Mate Sarah Palin from criticism in connection with the tragedy.
The president "movingly mourned and honored the Victims of Saturday's senseless atrocity outside Tucson, comforted...
Gun Sight Ad Still Part of Palins YouTube Channel
Never one to publicly back down, America’s half-governor, Sarah Palin, quietly scrubbed her web presence of images of the now infamous “gun sight” ad. The ad featured sights over targeted Democratic House districts, including AZ-8, the seat held by Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, who is still in a Tucson Hospital, recovering from last weekend’s gunshot wound to the head.
Team Sarah first tried to excuse the targets as “surveyor’s symbols,” but also deleted the ad from th
Illinois school silence law may return
SPRINGFIELD, Ill., Jan. 14 (UPI) -- The moment-of-silence law for Illinois schools, blocked by a Constitutional Challenge, may be back, the state says. State schools Superintendent Christopher Koch this week told districts an injunction against the law could be lifted in days, the Chicago Tribune reported Friday. Some superintendents said they are awaiting legal advice. Jim McKay of Community High School District 117 in Lake County said principals would explain the law to Students and include a ...
Homeland Security Pulls Plug on High-Tech Border Fence
By KEITH JOHNSON
WSJ
WASHINGTON—The Department of Homeland Security Friday pulled the plug on a troubled billion-dollar program to build a high-tech fence along the Arizona border to help fight illegal Immigration, a definitive end to a long-moribund project.
By scrapping the Controversial SBInet program, DHS will now turn to a mix of proven, existing technology it says will help agents patrol a much bigger chunk of the southwest border at a lower cost.
"SBInet cannot meet its original objec...
Homeland Security Scraps Border Fence
(Wall Street Journal) - The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Friday pulled the plug on a troubled billion-dollar program to build a high-tech fence along the Arizona border to help fight illegal Immigration, a definitive end to a long-moribund project, The Wall Street Journal reported. By scrapping the Controversial SBInet program, DHS will now turn to a mix of proven, existing technology it says will help agents patrol a much bigger chunk of the southwest border at a lower cost. Homeland Security Axes Bush-Era 'Virtual Fence' Project
ABC News' Jason Ryan reports: The Department of Homeland Security today officially scrapped a Bush-era program designed to use radar technology to detect Illegal Immigrants crossing the border, according to a DHS official and a congressional source.
The project, called "Virtual Fence," was rolled out under the Bush administration in 2006 with much fanfare about how technology could help secure the border. Illegal immigrants crossing the border would be detected by a radar and pi...
Homeland Security Junks Its Sensor-Laden Border Fence
It only took nearly a year of hiatus and $1 billion in sunk costs, but the Department of Homeland Security has finally gotten rid of the networked suite of sensors that made up its virtual Border Fence. But some of its technology may live on as zombie border protection.
The virtual fence “cannot meet its original objective of providing a single, integrated Border Security technology solution,” Secretary Janet Napolitano conceded in a statement today heralding the program’s te...
Gillibrand Heads To Tucson With President
Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand’s office said she has boarded Air Force One with President Obama this afternoon to travel to Tucson, Ariz., to attend tonight’s memorial service for the Victims of Saturday’s shootings.
According to the White House pool report, Gillibrand was joined on the trip by some House colleagues, the First Lady, Justice Anthony Kennedy, Attorney General Eric Holder, Department of Homeland Security Security Janet Napolitano, the former Arizona Governor, and Democ...
Is Help On the Way?
There’s still a lot we don’t know about the massacre in Arizona, but by now it’s quite clear that the alleged shooter, Jared Lee Loughner, was mentally disturbed. In college, he was prone to surreal rants that unnerved classmates and teachers. While working at an Animal Shelter, he didn’t see why sick dogs needed to be kept away from healthy ones. Loughner’s friends were even aware of his weird obsession with Representative Gabrielle Giffords. (At one 2007 event, h...
The Tucson Shooting; Where do we go from here?
The tragic shootings in Tucson, Arizona have spawned a constellation of political quakes, accusations of guilt and attacks on Constitutional Rights. Behind the political blame game, though, there are human interest elements to this story that illustrate the true strength of the human spirit. For instance, Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords' fight for her life. Giffords, who was shot in the head, and her battle to recover from this unspeakable act of violence, is a display of the most inspira...
