Arizona Republics SCATHING smackdown of Sheriff Clarence Dupnik
Send Sheriff Clarence Dupnik a POSTCARD, not a letter or email, telling him what you think of his job performance. This is one of the most direct and scathing smackdowns I’ve ever seen a newspaper hand an elected official. It’s essentially a bare-bottomed spanking, which Clarence Dupnik may or may not actually enjoy. The Arizona Republic is much more charitable towards this man than we’ve been. In the article, the paper gives Dupnik a pass for anything he did the day Jar...

Gabrielle Giffords, as well as over a dozen others (leaving six dead), in an apparent Assassination attempt appeared in court, not a single relative of Jared Lee Loughner was spotted in the courtroom. Now details are emerging about the 22-year-old's family, who initially blocked the FBI from entering their home. And a neighbor told the NY Post that Loughner's dad is "pretty much the neighborhood prick."
The neighbor, who also said...

The Unstable Sheriff of Pima County, AZ
Jim Geraghty in his Morning Jolt email takes on Sheriff Clarence Dupnik (pronounced "Dumbsh....") who has managed both to neglect his duties AND try and dismantle the First Amendment:
Say this for Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik. He may have dropped the ball on numerous red flags and other signs of a potential threat from the Tucson gunman, and he certainly didn't bother to assign any deputies or other police personnel to the "Congress on Your Corner" event that turned into a massacre, des...
Sherrif Dupnik Links Rush Limbaughs Words To Arizona Shooting Tragedy
Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik has been a vocal participant in the finger-pointing aftermath of the Arizona Shooting Tragedy, and in fact was the first to call out the “vitriolic Rhetoric” as part of the reason behind the incident. He specifically called out conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh, calling him “irresponsible” for the continuing vitriol. During and interview last night with ABC News’ Diane Sawyer, Dupnik doubled down on his critique of Limbaugh, t...
U.S. public says Giffords shooting, rhetoric unrelated
Most Americans see no relation between the attempted Assassination of congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and the political tactic of lacing vitriolic Rhetoric with Firearms analogies. That’s the conclusion of a CBS News poll that found most Republicans (69 pct), most Independents (56 pct) and even a plurality of Democrats (49 pct) believe the two phenomena unrelated. Those numbers add up to 57 percent of Americans overall — a true majority though not quite big enough to break a Se...

Shouldnt we protect the supermarkets first?
From the Charleston Gazette: “In light of Saturday’s shooting rampage in Arizona that left six dead and a congresswoman critically injured, one State Legislator Sunday called for toughening security at the West Virginia Capitol.”
The Shooting Spree was at a Supermarket.
I guess the people who want to turn the Capitol into Super Max have been waiting for an opportunity to roll out the metal detectors.
Full-body scanners eventually will appear at all government buildings.

'Climate of Hate' to Blame for Ariz Shooting?
Investigators are still trying to find the motive behind Saturday's shooting of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, D-Ariz., and others in Tucson. Liberals quickly blamed Conservatives for creating the climate that led to the attack and that has sparked a fiery debate about political Rhetoric.
Tucson has come together to rally around the Victims of the Shooting Spree and its primary target, who authoritites say was Giffords.
"Every day that goes by and we don't see an increase, we're slightly more optimi...

Obama's Crisis Response Evolving
President Obama swiftly made a statement to the press Saturday after the Arizona shooting that left Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.) critically injured, killed six and injured another 13. Obama also took the highly unusual step of sending FBI Director Robert Mueller to the scene. On Monday, he spoke by phone with Pima County Sheriff...

Loughner's Parents Blame Themselves
It's always the same old story -- everyone knew Jared Loughner was unbalanced but no one chose to do anything. Loughner's father is expected to release a statement. Meanwhile, the right and the left battle it out over what motivated Loughner to shoot.
The left contends that Sarah Palin had some sort of influence over him and that the right's anti government Rhetoric helped create Loughner. But Loughner's "politics," if you want to call it that, were erratic. He is registered to vote as an inde...
