Key To The City: My Super Bowl Dilemma
I hate football. Not really, but the Giants are giving me no choice. Two weeks ago, I asked for three things for Christmas. I asked for the Yankees to produce something that resembles a starting rotation that can compete in the AL East, the Giants to make the Playoffs and for the Knicks to land Carmelo Anthony. The Giants were eliminated from the Playoffs on Sunday, and the Yankees are thinking about bringing in Jeff Francis or Jeremy Bonderman to round out their rotation. Carmelo might as well ...
Colts Vinatieri Ready For Clutch Kicks Against Jets
NEW YORK (AP) — Adam Vinatieri is still clutch — and still almost automatic. The man who has two Super Bowl-winning kicks was happy to get reacquainted with a bit of pressure in time for Saturday night’s Playoff game against the New York Jets. “It’s been a little while since I’ve...

The New York Jets coach says Thursday that “nobody” studies like Manning, the Indianapolis Colts Quarterback whom Ryan’s team faces in a first-round Playoff matchup Saturday. Ryan says Brady, the New England Patriots quarterback, “thinks he does” study as much as Manning, but gets more help from his coach, Bill Belichick. If the Jets (11-5) beat the Colts (10-6), they would...
Bill O'Reilly to interview Obama for Fox Super Bowl pre-game
The pro football Playoffs begin this weekend, but Fox Sports is already making sure there'll be solid television Ratings no matter what teams makes it to the Super Bowl on Feb. 6. When it broadcast the games in Obama's first two years in office, NBC had hosts Matt Lauer (2009) and Katie Couric (2010) do the pre-game chats. O'Reilly ...

The loss of Thomas came one ...

Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll, right, watches as Quarterback Charlie Whitehurst throws during the NFL football team's practice Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2011, in Renton, Wash. The Seahawks host the New Orleans Saints Saturday in an NFC wild-card game. From the time he first walked into the Seahawks' palatial headquarters on Lake Washington, Pete Carroll pledged competition. It's the crux of nearly everything he's done since arriving in Seattle. It's why the Seahawks have made 275 roster transactio...

It will be the New York Jets if they beat the Indianapolis Colts on Saturday night. Otherwise, it will be the winner of Sunday’s game bet...

Super Bowl organizers not concerned about lockout
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Super Bowl organizers in Indianapolis insist their plans have not changed. They still expect next year’s game to be played, as scheduled, Feb. 5, 2012. But Wednesday, for the first time, host Committee Chairman Mark Miles says he believes the city would get another Super Bowl if an NFL labor stoppage canceled the game. Miles and host committee president Allison Melangton spoke during a scheduled news conference approximately 400 days from kickoff. Both acknowledge...
Video: The obligatory fan-created Doritos Super Bowl ad mocks Christian rite clip
Note well: This isn’t an ad that Doritos is running in the Super Bowl, just one that they posted on their website (and refused to remove) after a fan submitted it for their contest with Pepsi. The bad news? Even to an ex-Catholic like me, it feels cheap. Blasphemy in defense of principle, like free Speech, is welcome; blasphemy in the service of humor can be fun. Blasphemy to sell bags of Cool Ranch chips? Eh. They have every right, but aside from Richard Dawkins and maybe Hitch, whoR...

"Psshh" – pass it on. You might help an Orlando man get his commercial featured during the Super Bowl.
Brandy Gill made a commercial called "Zero Calories? Psshh," and it's now one of 10 finalists in the Crash the Super Bowl Challenge.
The Psshh spot cost $30 to make. Gill, 36, directed his co-workers over a lunch hour, and co-worker Wes Sumner shot the commercial.
"It took about an hour to shoot, and we did the editing in an hour on my Mac," Gill said. "Start to finish, we were done in t...

Top And Bottom of the NFL: Week 17
Power rankings. You hate them. They’re so arbitrary and pointless, especially when they include all 32 NFL teams. All you want to know after a good week of NFL action is who the bestest team in the NFL right now, and which one is the absolute worst. The one so awful, it probably will be playing against New Orleans in a Playoff game this weekend. That’s why we have TOP AND BOTTOM OF THE NFL, where we go to great lengths to tell you who’s the top dog in football right now, this v...
Jets Appeal Fine Over Dolphin Trip
When the New York Jets were fined just $100,000 for the infamous tripping of Miami’s Nolan Carroll by Jets coach Sal Alosi, many of us remarked how relatively light the punishment was for such an unsportsmanlike act. It appears, however, that even that fine is too much for the management of the Jets, which is appealing the punishment. I have taken my share of appeals and believe strongly in the right for such review. However, there are times when it is necessary to accept responsibility an...
